Happy new year!

Well I can safely say this is the weirdest new year I've ever had... Naomi and I both spent all of yesterday in bed with the flu and most of today as well. Tonights celebration will probably involve a spoonful of Benylin for the sore throat and an early night!!!!

I hope the old sayngs about tonight are wrong as I don't want to spend 2007 with a nasty cold...

Hold a chicken in the air...

Just caught some of the best of spitting image on TV and as crap as the show is it made me look around the web for any copies of shows lying around. Sadly no shows, but YouTube had a few bits, and this one caught my eye...

The Chicken Song

An absolute classic, not quite the whole video but most of it :-)

Happy christmas!

Its been quite a while since I wrote, so as I'm in front of the PC with a few spare minutes I thought I'd add something :-)

Christmas was hectic, as always, more so this year as we headed north and for home, for the first time in many years. It was very good, as was expected but very tiring, 3 sets of parents in 3 days was always going to be hard. Its also not helped by the wonders of GNER either!

After all that we then had a close friends wedding (the first of many coming up in the next few months!). It was a lovely day, as I type the new Mr and Mrs Routledge should be somewhere in Edinburgh getting ready for the new year celerbations.

Time to sign off for now...

We survived!

Well amazingly I'm still here, in one piece and surprisngly undamaged... this may sound odd so I better explain. Last weekend was a mates stag do, 10 of us went to Oswestry near Shrewsbury and drank lots and played hard. Paintball, beer, archery, beer, go karts, beer, hovercraft and yes more beer. The pictures are hanging around here.

Beware some of them are a bit much for some peoples (Bobs rear end is not pretty!).

No one mourns the Wicked...

We went to see Wicked last week, before you ask its not some cheesy modern musical inspired by Kevin and Perry!

Its about the life of the Witches from Oz which you don't see in the book or the movies... was quite enjoyable, bit Americanised and the audience were 100% pure annoying Yank! Who claps after every bloody song?!!?!?! Only the Americans...

Worth watching, and we got to go on a preview night :-)

Prada and... Wickes!

Well another update and another month or so gone!

Spent the day fitting laminate flooring and I've decided whichever b*stard came up with it should be shot, I'm much happier fitting carpet or cushion floor.

Went to see The Devil Wears Prada at Hammersmith tonight... very, very funny film, highly recomended, best film I've seen for months.

Well thats it, short and sweet, time for bed, got a long week of DIY coming up (yes I'm on holiday, but for some stupid reason we thought it would be better to stay and home and catch up on home improvements instead of going to Ireland, WTF!!?!?)

Bye for now...

The devil went down to Scunthorpe...

Well, unsurprisingly its been a month since my last entry, maybe I should aim for twice a month, I might be able to hit that target!!!

Its been a busy month, got sent on a training course to learn all about ITIL management processes (not that they will get implemented anytime soon...), had a bizzare issue where Dell couldn't deliver kit to our Polish office though Insight could! Learn a lot about enterprise level monitoring with some funky tools(Foglight by Quest, Zenoss and Hyperic). Plus loads more! Oh maybe I should mention the biggest thing this month for all the friends who I know read this but I never ever speak to... Naomi and I got engaged, yes you did read that right! I'm happily accepting gifts of cars, cheques and credit card numbers :-)

Well, bedtime for me, long long day tomorrow....

Just one cornetto...

Well here we are again, another long gapsince I last posted but hey what the hell. Its my blog and my website so I'll do things at my pace. Anyway...

We just came back from a nice week in Italy. Stayed in Treviso, 30km north of Venice. Had a day or so there, went down to Venice for a day and then up to Belluno in the foot hills of the Alps for a day. Some wicked photos of the trip are now appearing on a quality photo gallery near you.... CLICK!

In other news, a friend has finally got his cleaning and business services operation off the ground, long overdue. I'm helping out with the IT (as usual). Also got in touch with an old friend after a big gap, always nice to keep in touch.

Engage the cloak Mr Sulu!

How cool is this, a UK/US team reckon they can build a cloaking device to hide from radar in 18 months...

Very true!

I came across a wonderful quote earlier...

"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed, second it is violently opposed, and third, it is accepted as self-evident."

Arthur Schopenhauer, Philosopher, 1788-1860

How very true....

The last thing she said...

Where to begin, its been a long time since my last post, well 14 days anyway! Seems like a long time. Been some cool happenings since, like buying yself an XBox 360 full system :-) so now my life belongs to M$, nooooooooooooooooooo!

In all honesty its a good system, if it could browse the internet with IE7 or Firefox I'd throw my old PC in the bin I think... cue flames from my Linux mates...

My blog seems popular my page impressions have gone through the roof since this started. I've even attracted some blog-spam!!!!

Well enough for tonight, its bed time, sees you all later

I'm just travelin' travelin' travelin' I'm just travelin' thru ...

Happy easter everyone, I know its almost all over now but what the hell! Did you all get your piles of choccy easter eggs? I did :-)

Been a good weekend, seen some wicked movies and some crap, the good ones: Transamerica, Take the Lead and the bad: Scary Movie 4

Take the lead was great. Lots of laughs, smiles and even almost some tears! Same for Transamerica, though some may find it a bit offensive in places. Scary Movie, hmmm, well, what to say. Maybe crap or garbage or just plain trash. It managed to raise a few smiles but not enough to make it worhtwhile. Roll on X3 in a month or so

A jelly donut....

Before anyone asks... just go and see Romance and Cigarettes, very screwed up and funny film. Well worth sitting through the ignorant bastard at the end of the row playing with his phone. Well another long gap since my last post, maybe one day I'll get round to doing this more than once a month!

Wonderful new website I've come across, www.last.fm promises to expand your musical horizons... would be nice to find something new to listen to.

Well of to do stuff before work takes over my life for another week, so for now I'll say das vi dania comrades :-)

The joys of the internet

Wow, its only been 2 days and I'm already doing another entry, who would have thought it possible!

What a weekend, my DBA at work leaves, no new one hired yet but plenty of interviews this week. Still no Weblogic expert hired, but a few in this week for interviews. Still not found another Linux guy, but more interviews this week as well. So JP is a hectic and disorganised as ever!

Finally got sat down with Gerry to discuss MyLittleWebServer Ltd services and future, should prove... fruitful! Lets see how the next few weeks pan out and maybe we will see the birth of a new Eurpoean hosting/services powerhouse... or myabe just some beer tokens!

After 8 weeks of planning we finally got to meet Shirley and Chentil in Southall at the Roxy for some authentic Indian food, very nice. It was a bit too spicy for Naomi, so she ended up with Yoghurt and rice soup instead of curry!!!!

So much for good intentions!

Well after my last(and first!) post I guess I'm a bit lame... as theres been a month or so since that post. Oh well! Thats what you get for being a home owner and Operations Manager for an international business.

I spent most of last week drowning in sawdust and paint, while I replaced some rotten floorboards in the kitchen, replaced the cushion floor and then helped Naomi paint the kitchen a nice shade of blue. I finally managed to get the washer to not sound like a 767 taking off down the road at Heathrow, success!!!!

This weeks been spent going from one disaster to another at work and having absolutely no success in hiring a new DBA for my team, our current one leaves tomorrow which leaves us a bit exposed, but I did just book 15 or so interviews for next week, so surely I can find one good one...

I've also spent the week harrassing the council(who own the lease on our building) nd trying to get some value for my extortionate service charge, not doing bad so far, at least 4 problems have been sorted, now I just need to get some money out of them, should be an interesting phone call tomorrow.

Enough of my dull, boring chatter for one day, I'm off to listen to a bit more Aerosmith and to relax before bed at 11pm. Hopefully it'll be less than a month until my next post.

Yay it works!

Well, after a year or so of neglecting Scutty.co.uk and seeing the visitors drop from thousands to hundreds per month I thought it was time I did something with it. So here I am with a blog and soon a new look and some new content as well. Besides all my friends seem to have blogs now:

QBall - http://www.bloglines.com/blog/QBall

Lady Blaize - http://ladyblaize.livejournal.com/

Paul - http://paulholloway.com/

so I thought it was time I got one!

Time to go make a few more changes to the site...

See ya :-)
